The production of hybrid seeds requires a procedure for removing panicles from female plants. This ensures that they are only pollinated by the male corn plant, allowing the desired hybrid corn cob to grow on the female plants. Ploeger Oxbo Group has been operating on this market in the United States for many years, where we started with castration beams that could be mounted on self-propelled sprayers.
Eight or nine years ago we launched our Oxbo 5170 self-propelled castrator. This machine was developed and built in the UK. Specially designed to carry a twelve-row castration bar, which allows it to mow and extract panicles at high speed and unrivaled accuracy. High efficiency is due to our unique automatic height control system.
Since a large twelve-row castrator is not ideal for every situation, we at Ploeger Oxbo Group have also developed a smaller version adapted to European standards, the Bourgoin BD320. The machine is designed for castration beams of up to nine rows and is equipped with the same type of automatic height control system as the current Oxbo 5180. These machines also come standard with our CC pilot touchscreen and FleetCommand telemetry system.
We tested the prototype in 2020, and a year later (2021) the first machine appeared at our client in Poland. We encourage you to watch the video prepared by the client.
